Big News: The Village Institute Is Stepping Out on Its Own

We’ve got some exciting (and a little bittersweet) news. As of July, the Village Institute is officially operating independently and has concluded its fiscal sponsorship with the Barton Institute.

It’s a big milestone. One that’s been years in the making. The Village Institute and Barton Institute teams and communities have grown alongside each other over the last five years. Long before the Village Institute opened its doors, Ellie Adelman, the Village Institute’s Executive Director, was incubating the idea. On the journey, the Barton Institute provided mentorship, infrastructure, funding connections, and a network of support, and the Village Institute shared valuable insights and helped shape essential conversations within the Barton Institute.

Over the past year, the Village Institute has built up its internal team, expanded its operations, and is now fully running its finance, human resources, and donor systems. That means it’s ready to stand on its own, precisely what it set out to do when the partnership first began back in 2020.

“We are so grateful for the incredible friendship and partnership of the Barton Institute and can’t wait to see what the future holds for us both.”

Ellie Adelman, Executive Director, Village Institute

We at the Barton Institute could not be prouder. It’s been an honor to walk alongside the Village Institute as a fiscal sponsor and partner. Watching their growth, leadership, and deep commitment to newcomer communities has been truly inspiring. We can’t wait to see what’s next.
