The Village Institute - A Love Letter

The Village Institute celebrates five years of supporting newcomer families with a beautiful short film.

The Village Institute is celebrating five years of supporting newcomer families with the release of a beautiful new short film.

The film, "A Love Letter to Our Ancestors,” highlights several of the Village Institutes dedicated staff members and the personal histories that shaped them, including stories of migration, family, courage, and resilience. Their reflections offer a powerful window into the heart of the organization’s work and the shared experiences that unite its community.

Amid a year filled with challenges, the film is a meaningful source of light and connection. It reminds us of the profound value of community, the vital choice to lead with compassion, and the enduring strength of those who came before us. Their journeys shape who we are, who we are becoming, and the mission that drives the Village Institute to uplift the newcomer and diaspora community every day.

The film was produced by Michael Stephan with Story Spring, and sponsored by The Barton Institute for Community Action.
